More From our Standpoint
Tony Chiappetta
Tony Chiappetta’s IT company is all about “heartbeats, not hardware™” Chiappetta, CEO of California-based Modern IT, is so passionate about the phrase, that he trademarked it. As an entrepreneur for over 20 years, it’s been his mission to change the IT game to human-first instead of focused on fixing tech problems. “There’s so much more to IT than just support and security,” Chiappetta said. “Organizations have an opportunity to use IT to improve their company valuation, fulfill more of their mission and ultimately improve the lives of their staff and the people they serve as they focus on learning what people do in their day. The transformation/phenomena occurs as IT teams obtain mastery around creating secure and reliable IT infrastructure, then use the calm and confidence people have in the environment to listen and learn to what they do throughout the day. This opens the door to the buzzwords of hyper automation and Ai, but it really comes down to understanding and documenting what people do, building trust so they allow you to automate mundane tasks or workflows. As you reduce the burden of work and allow people to achieve more and reduce errors in less time, IT is able to create a better human experience.” Along his journey, Chiappetta has learned the downfalls of IT tool sprawl and what happens when IT teams rely on so many tools and applications. Over the last several years, he’s streamlined his company and his clients to run almost entirely under Microsoft and Connectwise platforms. That has allowed the vast majority of his clients – which are medium sized organizations on a global level with between 50-300 employees – to quickly and effectively channel their IT needs leveraging a best of platform approach. Whether Chiappetta’s company runs a client’s IT division or complements a client’s dedicated IT team, the “less is more” mantra has been a game-changer. That especially has been true as more employees work from home. “The clients who are modernized with Microsoft 365, are able to take their laptops home or anywhere else and work from there, just as they did from the office – work is no longer a place you go, it’s a thing you do,” Chiappetta said.
